Pottery in Praise of a Potter, Pottery in Ormož region

Pottery was, as one of the oldest traditional trades in Ormož region, widespread in the past, which is also seen in the material kept in Ptuj Historical Archive. The pottery branch in Ormož was dependent on the Potters’ Guild in Graz which is stated in the perserved written records. The guild order of potters from 1746 was in effect in Ormož region. An interesting fact is that pottery is very old in Središče ob Dravi, which is mentioned as a pottery village in many perserved records. The clay deposits were in Podgorci, near Velika Nedelja and around Središče ob Dravi.
