Medieval Statues From The Ormož Area
Exhibition comprises six eminent medieval statues. Dating from sometime before 1200, the Romanesque, if not pre-Romanesque, sculpture of a bearded man is one of the oldest preserved medieval statues in Slovenia. The Gothic statue of a seated Madonna with Child (cca. 1360-70) certainly ranks among the country’s most eminent pieces from the third quarter of the 14th century. The beautiful Gothic style wooden sculpture of God the Father, once part of a Throne of Grace, dates from around 1380. The highlight of the exhibition is a group of three sculptures, the work of a Ptujska Gora workshop between 1400 and 1405: the statue of the seated Madonna with Child and statues of Sts. Margaret and Dorothea.
