The Ptuj-Ormož Provincial Museum operates in the wider area of Ptuj and Ormož, which is famous for its rich prehistoric and ancient sites (Roman Poetovio), the period of migration, medieval and modern testimonies of the importance of Ptuj and its hinterland and picturesque folk tradition.
Collections and exhibitions in the fields of archeology, history, cultural history, ethnology and contemporary fine arts are on display at several locations, the most visited being in Ptuj Castle.
