Arkan Al Nawas: Across the Borders of Time/Art Stories From the East

ARKAN AL NAWAS
ACROSS THE BORDERS OF TIME / ART STORIES FROM THE EAST
Thursday, October 23, 2025, at 6 p.m. Mihelič Gallery in Ptuj.

We kindly invite you to the opening of the art exhibition of the Iraqi-Slovenian painter and landscape architect Arkan Al Nawas, who has been working in the field of painting for many years in the sense of exploring the possibilities of intercultural connection of different worlds and searching for answers about the common cultural heritage and its fate in the future. The artist’s paintings are recognizable by the use of a warm color palette, with an emphasis on gold, which symbolizes holiness, protection and divinity. They often act as art mosaics, composed of abstract but emotionally charged surfaces, which with their softness and liveliness reflect the artist’s inner experiences in the face of numerous life and professional challenges.

The conversation with the painter will be moderated by dr. Marijanca Ajša Vižintin from the Institute for Slovenian Emigration and Migration at the ZRC SAZU in Ljubljana.

On view until November 23, 2025.
