Smells and fragrances have accompanied man since time immemorial. Fragrances found in nature were used to scent rooms, to improve dishes and for personal hygiene, cosmetics and well-being.
Romans used various natural substances, some were also imported. They prepared them for further use using various procedures. They used containers made of ceramics, glass, metal, amber… for storage.
Many bottles and containers for storing perfumes, essential oils and pomades have been preserved among the remains and in the graves of the Roman Poetovio.
