Showcase of the Month: Mopi Car
Museum showcase for the months of May and June
MOPI CAR, a priceless technical heritage
Mopi (pioneer moped) is the only car of its kind, which was used to introduce young people to the ever denser traffic on the roads and for the purposes of pioneer traffic clubs in schools. It was developed in cooperation with the Slovenian Bus Carrier (SAP) Ljubljana and the Tomos factory between 1957 and 1963.
The Mopi car offers the opportunity for even today’s children to learn more about the history of traffic safety in the past and today in an extremely innovative way, and at the same time, the Mopi is an exceptional gem (it was meticulously restored at the Grom Motorcycle Museum in Vransko). The display case was created at the initiative of Franc Škrjanac, president of the Slovenian Veteran Automobile and Motorcycle Association of Slovenia (SVAMZ) and the Regional Museum of Ptuj – Ormož. Its purpose is also to raise awareness, as the week from May 1 to 7 is the International Traffic Safety Week.
